Electroencephalography (EEG)
Electroencephalography (EEG) is a service provided at MVRMC to help the physician in
diagnosing disorders of the brain. MVRMC has been providing this service to the
community since 1968.
We are proud to announce that beginning in January, 2001 we
will have "state of the art" digital equipment to enhance our testing capabilities.
EEG is primary in the evaluation of Epilepsy, seizure disorders, brain injury and
infection, cerebral vascular accidents (CVA’s) , transient ischemic attacks (TIA’s),
tumors, dementia, sleep disorders, and even brain death.
EEG is a non-invasive and painless procedure, which involves taking a brief history
of the patients complaints, measuring the patients head, applying electrode leads to
the patients scalp and then the running of the test. A neurologist reads the EEG and
reports the finding to the patients physician.
