SAFE KIDS Partners with City of Buhl for Skatepark’s Grand Opening

The Magic Valley SAFE KIDS Coalition has partnered with the City of Buhl for the grand opening and ribbon cutting at Buhl’s new Dreamland Skatepark, located in McClusky Park (Poplar and 6th Avenue North, Buhl). From 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Saturday, June 18, there will be a variety of activities ranging from safety presentations by SAFE KIDS and well-known local skater, Shawn Black, to competitive skating events in the skatepark, live music, Frisbee Golf and FREE admission to the Buhl City Pool. The event boasts plenty of food and fun for all ages. Proceeds from the food purchases are designated to the final payment of the skatepark.
Skatepark Events are scheduled as follows:

10 a.m. – 12 noon Registration for Skatepark contests:
“Best Trick” contest – Fee: Free
“Rock the Cradle” contest – Fee: $10

10 – 11:30 a.m. Safety Instruction by SAFE KIDS & Shawn Black

11:30 – 12 p.m. EMT Skatepark Extraction Demo

12 noon Ribbon Cutting Ceremony by Mayor Barbara Gietzen,
officially opens the skatepark to the community

12 – 1 p.m. “Best Tricks” Competition for local skaters, 18 yrs and
under * Helmets are required.

1 – 2 p.m. Rock-the-Cradle Practice Session with Pro Demo & Live
Music

2 – 3 p.m. 1st Annual “Rock the World’s Largest Cradle” Competition

3 – 4 p.m. Free Swimming and Frisbee Golf
This is also the perfect time for adults and children to purchase safety gear at reduced costs. Helmets will be on sale for $15.00, and knee, elbow and wrist pad sets will also be on sale for $10.00. For more information call SAFE KIDS at 737-2432.
