MVRMC Women & Infants Center Staff Send Babies Home in Holiday Style
Date: December
14, 2005
For the second December in a row, babies born at Magic Valley Regional Medical Center go home in holiday style thanks to the efforts of the nursing staff on the Women & Infant’s Unit. Babies are snuggled into the Christmas stocking and topped with Christmas hats as they are presented to postpartum moms and dads.
Nurses Mary Mathews and Cindy Beer coordinate the efforts of staff to create Christmas stockings. The MVRMC Auxiliary contributed handmade Christmas hats for each baby, coordinated by Volunteers Evelyn Davenport, Carma Hamp, and Jessie Lingnaw. “It is an enjoyable project especially at this time of the year, because we have the opportunity to do something a little special for the newest members of our community. And the parents can’t help but smile when their cute little bundles are dressed up for the season. The photos are precious,” explained Michele Randall, Director of Maternal-Child Services and Unit Support Team.
Very special gifts are planned for the Christmas Baby and New Years Baby. For the first baby born on December 25 at MVRMC, the Women & Infant Center staff has handcrafted a one-of-a-kind quilt. Once finished, it will be on display in the unit until it is presented to the lucky baby. For the first baby born in 2006, nurse Leighann Reed and several other staff members are in the process of putting together an enormous bassinette of gifts for baby, mom and dad. Randall added, “The staff really have a lot of fun with these projects. It is just an example of how committed they are to making the hospital experience a special one.”
