Hoopfest 2006 Benefits CARES (Children At Risk Evaluation Services)
Date: January 26, 2006
“Hoopfest 2006” will be held on Friday, March 17th beginning at 5 pm at CSI Gymnasium. This annual fundraiser supporting Children At Risk Evaluation Services (CARES) is a fun-filled evening of basketball beginning with 3-point and free throw contests for youth, high school and senior divisions. At 6:30 p.m. the first ballgame features local physicians (a.k.a. The Sawbones) vs. local attorneys (a.k.a. The Jawbones). The second game pits firemen (a.k.a. The Heat) vs. policemen (a.k.a. The Bullets).
CARES relies on a variety of funding sources for program and operating support. The continued success of the program would not be possible without community support and donations. Hoopfest sponsorships and volunteer opportunities are still available. Please contact CARES at 737-2600.
CARES is a community service of Magic Valley Regional Medical Center that provides evaluation and intervention services to children when there is a concern about their well-being and safety. Children referred to the program may have been victims of sexual or severe physical abuse, witness to domestic violence or a violent crime or living in homes where drug use has put them in harm’s way. Services provided by CARES include interviews, medical examinations, counseling referrals, counseling scholarships and groups for non-offending parents
