Hoopfest 2006 Contest Sign-ups

Children At Risk Evaluation Service (CARES) will be holding the 4th Annual Hoopfest fundraiser at the CSI Gymnasium on Friday, March 17th. This fun-filled evening of basketball features local physicians (a.k.a. The Sawbones) vs. local attorneys (a.k.a. The Jawbones) and local firemen (a.k.a. The Heat) vs. local policemen (a.k.a. The Bullets).
This year Hoopfest organizers have added a Free Throw Contest and a 3-point Contest with divisions for youth (6 – 8th grade), high school and seniors. Contest prizes will be awarded to the champion of each division. The preliminaries for the free throw and 3-point contests will begin at 5 p.m., with championship shoot-off’s occurring at intermission and half times of the basketball games, which begin at 6:30 p.m. Contest sign-ups are underway. Registration is $5.00 per event. Call 737-2600.
CARES is a community service of Magic Valley Regional Medical Center that provides evaluation and intervention services to children when there is a concern about their well-being and safety. Children referred to the program may have been victims of sexual or severe physical abuse, witness to domestic violence or a violent crime or living in homes where drug use has put them in harm’s way. Services provided by CARES include interviews, medical examinations, counseling referrals, counseling scholarships and groups for non-offending parents.
