CARES (Children At Risk Evaluation Services) Offers
Education and Support Group
Date October 24, 2006
CARES (Children At Risk Evaluation Services) offers a 4-week education and support group for Non-Offending Parents of Child Victims beginning Thursday, October 26 through Thursday, November 16. All sessions will be held from 6 – 7:30 p.m. in the Education Building at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Regional Medical Center (588 Addison Avenue West, Twin Falls).
If you are a parent trying to find answers to questions such as “Why didn’t my child tell me right away?” or “Why would someone do this?” or “How do I deal with my anger?” or “Does offender treatment really work?” then this group may provide just the support and information you need. These questions and many more are discussed over four weeks.
Week One: Response of law enforcement, child protection, prosecution and the courts.
Week Two: Needs of non-offending parents (dealing with denial, anger, self-blame, etc)
Weeks Three & Four: Needs of child victims and the impact of trauma on the child
There is no charge for participation in this group, thanks to the support of those who generously donate to the United Way of South Central Idaho. Pre-registration is required. Assistance with childcare is also available upon request. To pre-register or for more information, call CARES at 208-737-2600
